• Apply to the Markham-Stouffville Youth Council

    Do YOU want to want to have a say in Ontario’s government?

    If you are interested in learning how government works, and in sharing your thoughts and ideas with your Member of Provincial Parliament Paul Calandra, the Markham-Stouffville Provincial Youth Council could be the right place for you.

    The Youth Council is an opportunity for youth across the riding to provide feedback and input to MPP Calandra on how the Ontario government can better serve them. The Youth Council will give interested young people the chance to develop their research skills, better understand how the Government of Ontario works, and understand the relationship between the government, their local representative and other community stakeholders.

    Membership on the non-partisan Youth Council is open to students from Grades 9-12 living in Markham-Stouffville with a passion for community involvement and service.

    As a member of the Markham-Stouffville Provincial Youth Council, you will:

    • Provide feedback to MPP Calandra on issues facing the youth of Markham-Stouffville from a provincial perspective, including on the COVID-19 pandemic response;
    • Identify three ministries which impact youth and provide recommendations on how they can better serve young people in the riding;
    • Show a willingness to learn, research, and provide in-depth feedback;
    • Demonstrate involvement in the community via school leadership and volunteer activities;
    • Get credit toward your 40 hours of community service.

    Five virtual meetings are scheduled to be held between April and September 2021; additional activities may also be developed depending upon interest and opportunity.

    Please fill out your application in the form below. Please submit all applications no later than March 31, 2021.

    If you encounter any problems with the form or have questions please direct them to paul.calandra@pc.ola.org.
