Important information from Metrolinx
Effective February 22, 2020
Ridership on UP Express continues to increase as customers know they can rely on getting to and from the airport in 25 minutes, with trains departing every 15 minutes.
Metrolinx is streamlining how it enforces fares across our transit systems to offer our customers a more consistent experience while ensuring everyone is paying their fair share.
It is moving towards a proof-of-payment fare policy on UP Express, similar to that of GO Transit.
Customers who do not have proof of fare payment while onboard an UP Express train will receive a fine upon fare inspection. Implementation of this new approach to UP fares will take place on February 22, 2020 pending Board approval.
Tickets will no longer be available for purchase on board UP Express trains starting February 22, 2020.
- Make sure to tap your PRESTO card or purchase a ticket prior to boarding the train. PRESTO is an electronic fare payment card, offering customers seamless travel and reduced fares on UP Express. Make sure to tap off on an UP Express PRESTO device after exiting the train.
- Guests who have purchased a ticket or have tapped their PRESTO cards may join the lines, and have their payment quickly confirmed, before boarding the train.
- Tickets can be purchased quickly and easily at the ticket vending machines at stations, via the UP Express free mobile app and online at upexpress.com
- Pre-validation hours are from 06:27-8:57 and again from 14:27-19:00.
Please allow yourself just a few extra minutes to board the train.
